US Sen. Manchin (WV) Recognizes Vets4Energy's Capt. McCormick and Purple Heart Trail Event
May 18, 2016

US Sen. Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.)
The below statement was issued to Vets4Energy from U.S. Senator Joe Manchin III:
On behalf of the citizens of the Mountain State of West Virginia, it is my distinct honor to welcome those attending this wonderful event this morning [at Southwest Florida Military Museum & Library in Cape Coral, Florida] hosted by Vets4Energy.
As we come together today, let us not forget the sacrifices made by the men and women who have come before us, the remarkable individuals who served our nation so bravely. I thank all the Veterans and family members in attendance today for the sacrifices they have made to preserve the freedoms we hold dear – life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.
This special event is made possible through the hard work of generations of men and women in the energy industry. The energy sector has powered the rise and continued strength of this great nation, and will continue to drive the nation as long as our Flag flies in freedom. It is my hope that your important work of finding meaningful employment for veterans in the energy sector serves as a daily reminder of those who have served our country, and who have the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom.
I am proud to be from West Virginia, a state who has always mined the resources that powered the steel that built the great ships that made our nation the strongest in the world. We call our state one of the most patriotic states in the nation and I am so proud of what our citizens accomplish every day, and all they will achieve in the future.
I truly appreciate Vets4Energy Program Director Captain James McCormick, USA (ret) and all of you for what you are doing for our country. I invite you to come visit our beautiful Mountain State and wish you many blessings in all your endeavors. Please accept my most sincere thanks and best wishes.
With warmest regards,
Joe Manchin, United States Senator from West Virginia
