Purple Heart Trail
Did you know there is a “Purple Heart Trail” in America?
Join Vets4Energy’s Capt. James McCormick at stops along the trail. See where.
The Trail, established in 1992 by the Military Order of the Purple Heart, is a symbolic and honorary system of roads, highways, bridges and monuments that give tribute to the men and women who have been awarded the Purple Heart Medal and who have shed blood for our nation’s freedom. It creates a visual reminder to those who use the road system that others have paid a high price for their freedom to travel and live in a free society.
Signs placed at various locations annotate those roads and highways where legislation has been passed to designate parts of the national road system as The Purple Heart Trail. The actual format and design of the signs varies from state to state. There are currently designated sections in 45 states as well as Guam.
Vets4Energy and The Military Order of the Purple Heart join forces to honor recipients of the Purple Heart -- and all veterans -- along The Purple Heart Trail.
Vets4Energy State Program Director, Captain James McCormick, USA (Ret.), a three-time Purple Heart Recipient, also awarded Bronze Star with V and a Silver Star, will be meeting with veterans at planned stops along the Trail. As a soldier who served in Operation Desert Storm and Operation Iraqi Freedom, and with sons serving in Afghanistan, he is passionate about supporting veterans and the importance of energy security to our national security to protect American families and our military.
Planned stops along the Trail will be announced as known: join them in person if able, or follow their travels on Facebook.
