Three-time Purple Heart recipient kicks off national Purple Heart Trail tour with two Florida stops

May 13, 2016

Three-time Purple Heart recipient, Captain James McCormick, USA (Ret.), is kicking off a tour of the Purple Heart Trail with two stops in the Sunshine State next week.

McCormick, who is also the recipient of the Bronze Star with Valor and a Silver Star, is the program director for Vets4Energy, a national network of veterans advocating for increased domestic energy production.

“I'll be driving several segments of the Purple Heart Trail this year, beginning with a few in Florida,” said McCormick. “It's just good to honor those who were injured fighting for this country.”

His tour is part of a joint effort between Vets4Energy and The Military Order of the Purple Heart to honor recipients of the Purple Heart Medal, which is given to military men and women who suffered sounds in combat.

McCormick served in Operation Desert Storm and Operation Iraqi Freedom and currently has sons serving in Afghanistan.

His planned Florida stops include the Southwest Florida Military Museum and Library (4820 Leonard Street, Cape Coral, FL) on Wednesday, May 18 at 10:00 a.m.; and, at the Ocala Citizens Circle (located behind Ocala City Hall in Ocala, FL) on Thursday, May 19 at 10:00 a.m.

The events are open to public and RSVP is preferred, though not required, by emailing RSVP@Vets4Energy.com.

Additional events, as added, both here in Florida and across the country, will be listed at www.Vets4Energy.com.
