We should allow our energy industry to continue to innovate

This past week I was encouraged by Vice President Mike Pence’s words during a stop in Boone where energy security was a main theme. The vice president reinforced the administration’s commitment to strengthen our domestic energy sector, while working to keep energy affordable for all citizens.
Our strong energy sector is part of what makes our economy so dynamic. It gives us a competitive edge, and doesn’t allow foreign actors like Russia and OPEC to use their vast energy supplies as a political weapon.
Energy affects us all daily when we use it to heat our homes, fuel our transportation to work, or at the grocery store when we purchase an item shipped in from across the country.
Thousands of Americans are employed in industries that locate, acquire and transport oil and natural gas. Many of which are veterans like myself. Making it more challenging for these industries to compete is not the answer. This will have negative impacts on the price and reliability of our energy...
