Vets4Energy attends Women Veterans Benefits Conference in Jacksonville, FL

Vets4Energy and Florida Energy Forum spoke and staffed an educational table at the Northeast Florida Women Veterans conference on March 12, 2017.   The event was held at the Florida Department of Veteran Affairs in Jacksonville, Florida. 

Topics during the energy discussion included careers for women in the oil and natural gas industry, how energy affects our national security, an overview of hydraulic fracturing, and steps taken to protect the environment and water resources during the hydraulic fracturing process.

The event lasted about three hours and had approx. 40 attendees. 

About The Northeast Florida Women Veterans

The Northeast Florida Women Veterans (NFWV), formed in 2012 by a group of female veterans with a mission of providing support to women who served on active duty, reservists and members of the National Guard, as well as their children. NFWV operate a resource center to provide supportive and career service to female veterans, advocate for their successes and accomplishments, and help them transition into the civilian community.

For the fourth year in a row, NFWV held their Week of Recognition, March 12-18, 2017. The event is a week-long observance celebrating the achievements of women veterans and raising awareness for the challenges they face. The week-long event included a benefits conference, mental health summit, employer summit, health fair, and educational fair, as well as various panels on finance, entrepreneurship and more.
