July 24, 2015

Vets4Energy National Liaison Admiral Don Loren and Florida Vets4Energy Co-Chair Commander Tom Garcia attended the VFW Florida State Convention in Orlando, June 11-14, 2015.

Admiral Loren was able to speak with the Governor and Mike Prendergast, Executive Director of FL Dept. of Veterans Affairs, about the mission of Vets4Energy and discuss the importance of finding jobs for veterans within the energy industry.

At the event, Vets4Energy hosted an exhibit table for three days to discuss the organization, its views on energy and importance of energy decisions being made with the military and national security in mind.  The message resonated almost universally.

Admiral Loren visited the hospitality suites of those VFW members running for statewide elected offices which provided an opportunity for one-on-one conversations about the importance of energy and why Vets4Energy was attending the conference.

At the beginning of the group’s general business meeting, Admiral Loren addresses the crowd of three hundred for 15 minutes, discussing why energy is important to our country’s economy and national security, why veterans are uniquely positioned to be heard and be respected on the topic and also highlighted in the importance of job creation for qualified veterans in the energy industry.

Following the morning session, Admiral Loren and Commander Garcia tapes a television interview at the studio of Hispanics Speak Out TV, a Central Florida media company with a television circulation of nearly 1 million.
