Independence Day from Capt. McCormick
July 4, 2016
I hope everyone is enjoying this 240th Birthday of our great nation, America! The land of the free and home of the brave, we have liberated millions of people around the world since that first day of freedom in 1776 and should all be proud to be part of it.
Today on this day let us reflect on the greatness of individuals who came together for one common purpose and that purpose was Freedom.
What is Freedom? For those of us blessed to be born in America from the day that doctor slaps our bottom and that first cry we make is made with the air of freedom, made possible by the millions of Americans who laid down their lives to keep that air free and the millions more who serve this nation in many ways to keep it the way.
As we look at Independence Day let’s not forget that many gave their tomorrow for our today and each of us should look for ways to push that freedom out beyond our individual limits and seek some way every day to create, nurture and honor those sacrifices made by those millions of Americans over the last 240 years.
For me, I look at my service with Vets4Energy as a way to promote and sustain that freedom through breaking the shackles of dependency on foreign energy. Why? because we are America first and America always, therefore when we look at true freedom it must include Energy Freedom, because no Liberty or freedom we enjoy including Energy can or should be given to brutes or trusted to be provided by those who do not represent true American values that include freedom and liberty for all.
America, Happy Independence Day! Let us never give up even one ounce of that freedom that so many died to preserve and provide for us.
