Lieutenant Colonel Michael H. Tachias

LTC Michael Tachias, USA (ret.)

LTC Michael H. Tachias was the Senior Intelligent Security Command (INSCOM) G3 Officer in Charge (OIC) serving in a forward deployed Joint Combatant Command Headquarters working in an integrated environment in support of multi-disciplined intelligence task force and the Joint Special Operations Command.

LTC Tachias enlisted in the US Army in 1979 and was later commissioned in June 1984.

His military service has included overseas tours to the Former Yugoslavia-Bosnia, Croatia, Kosovo, Montenegro, the Middle East-Iraq, Qatar, Kuwait, United Arab Emirates, Central Asia-Afghanistan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and Pakistan and a wide variety of assignments with Special Operations and Central Command-MacDill Air Force Base, Tampa, Florida.

His command, staff and troop assignments include: Personnel Action Officer (S-1) Headquarters (HQ) Commandant (Operation Joint Forge), Sarajevo, Bosnia; Security Officer (S2), HQ Commandant, Theatre Security Officer (TSO), and the Counter Intelligence Team (CJ2X), Sarajevo, Bosnia. While in this capacity was selected to serve the Office of Military Cooperation and the Combined Joint Special Operations Task Force (CJSOTF), Stabilization Force, Sarajevo, Bosnia.

In 2004-05, Tachias was in Central Asia as he served as the Executive Officer CJ9, Combined Joint Special Operations Group, Kandahar, Afghanistan. Following assignments included LNO, 3rd Special Forces Group (Airborne), LNO 7th Special Forces Group (Airborne), LNO United Arabs Emirates (UAE) Special Forces Group, LNO French Special Forces Group (TG ARIES) Kandahar and Helmand Province, Afghanistan.

In 2007, Tachias was assigned as the Civil Military Operations Officer in Central Command, MacDill AFB, Tampa, Florida. In 2008-09, Tachias was assigned to the Intelligence and Security Command Helmand, Afghanistan. In 2009-2010, he was re-assigned Executed Officer INSCOM Baghdad, Iraq. As the Senior Officer in Charge, he conducted extensive Joint Counter-Insurgency (COIN) operations with host nation forces and Coalition Special Operations Forces. In 2011-2013, Tachias was in the Warrior Transition Battalion, Ft. Bliss, Texas.

LTC Tachias retired from the National Nuclear Security Administration, Sandia National Labs. He is a former 20-year member of an elite Special Weapons & Tactics Team, Counter-Terrorism.
