George Wuerch, Lieutenant Colonel, USMC (ret.)
After twenty years in the U.S. Marine Corps, which included two stints in Vietnam in the mid-sixties and early seventies, Lt. Colonel Wuerch put his engineering background to use in the oil and gas industry for twenty years. He worked for Northwest Alaskan Gasoline, as President of Fluor Daniel Alaska Engineering, and Vice-President at Alyeska Pipeline Service Company, which operates the Trans-Alaska Pipeline System. After retiring, Lt. Colonel Wuerch spent eight years in elected office as Mayor of Anchorage and as Chair of the Anchorage Assembly. He later served five years as head of the Knik Arm Bridge and Toll Authority (KABATA), based in Anchorage.
