Vets4Energy Florida Veteran Mark Alvarez, USA (Ret.) was awarded the Governor's Medal of Merit by Governor Rick Scott.

Alvarez is a Vietnam Army veteran and formerly served as the National Legislative Chairman and the Florida Legislative Chairman for the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the nation’s largest combat veterans service organization. Among Mark’s many achievements, he helped to establish the local chapter of the Student Veterans Association with students from Florida State University, Florida A&M University and Tallahassee Community College.

Alvarez has been an outspoken Florida Vets4Energy advocate, voicing support for offshore development and hydraulic fracturing, and opposition to Florida Amendment 9, the proposal to ban offshore drilling.

We are proud that Mark has chosen to volunteer his time working with Florida's Vets4Energy.
