Darrol L. Brown, Sergeant, USAF

Darrol Brown served in the United States Air Force from November 1969 through March 1973 as a Communications Analysis Specialist with the USAF Security Service (now known as Air Force Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance Agency). Darrol’s overseas assignments included 17 months at Misawa Air Base, Japan with the 6921st Security Group and 10 months with the 6924th Security Squadron at Ramasun Army Station, Thailand. After receiving his Honorable Discharge in 1973, Darrol returned home to continue his college education at the University of Toledo. Darrol and his family moved from Ohio to Nevada in 1982 where he worked for the State of Nevada for 16+ years, lastly for 8 years as the Veterans Program Coordinator. In 2002, Darrol was appointed the State Director for Veterans Employment and Training Service (DVET) of the U.S. Department of Labor. He served twelve years as DVET, retiring in May 2014. Darrol continues to be active in civic affairs, most recently as a non-paid Veteran Lobbyist at the Nevada State Legislature. He is also the Legislative Committee Chair with the Carson Area Chapter 388 of Vietnam Veterans of America (VVA). Darrol has served as VVA Chapter President, Nevada State Council President, and as Regional Director on the VVA National Board of Directors. He is a member of the VFW, American Legion and Air Force  Association. Darrol serves on his local veteran’s organization, Welcome All Veterans Everywhere (WAVE), as a Board Director.
